What is Posh Golf Travel?

This web site provides reviews and suggested itineraries for the best golf, spa and sporting activity resorts, luxury hotels, villas and holiday apartments in the world, scattered across four continents and more than two dozen countries.

We feature knowledgeable insight into the finest golf resorts and luxury vacation destinations, an insight that we have acquired from several decades working in the golf travel industry and writing about golf. We are experts at what we do and we are selective: we don't publicise cheap holidays because we believe that quality doesn't equate to cheap.

We are well established: Posh Golf Travel has been reviewing golf resorts and golfing holidays since 2000 - we were one of the first websites devoted to reviewing and featuring golf resorts and luxury holiday destinations around the world.

Why vacation with your family on a golf resort?

A family holiday on a golf resort? Those who know will tell you there’s no better choice. Most have every facility and activity guaranteed to please non-golfers of all ages: a spa and beauty salon, a fitness centre, tennis, swimming, boating, bicycles,horse-riding, and other activities for youngsters, often including a kids' club, a beach and a cinema.

Many resorts are set in estates of several hundred acres with gated access and 24 hour security. So they’re quite safe as well as exclusive. While you golf, or whatever, the youngsters can wander off and do their own thing, returning to the nest in time for meals.

There’ll be oodles of choice there, too: romantic restaurants and bistro-type eating places suitable for youngsters, often out-doors. Ditto bars, night clubs and casinos for the adults. Likewise accommodation: all resorts have hotel rooms but some have serviced villas or apartments and cottages, with all mod cons, overlooking the beach or the golf course.

Many golf resorts are located near historic cities or towns so there are external attractions aplenty; a market, perhaps, a marina or museum, art galleries, lots of shopping, oodles of sight-seeing.

We have visited each golf resort and luxury destination that we feature and have included on this site only those resorts and destinations suitable for a luxurious and memorable golf holiday.

We have personal relationships with each of the resorts and 5 star destinations and have negotiated agreeable discounts for you.

What about the financial aspects of all this? Will my deposit be safe?

Posh Golf Travel will not be involved in your financial transaction. We are golf and travel writers, not tour operators. Using our extensive knowledge of the best golf courses, golf resorts and luxury hotels, villas and holiday apartments, we can recommend suitably luxurious golf vacation options to meet your requirements and then offer you a discount or bonus in relation to your chosen resort or destination.

Is Posh Golf Travel a free service?

Yes. There is no charge to end users of the site (i.e. you).

Are any of your featured vacation destinations suitable for golfing groups?

Yes: most golf resorts cater for golfing groups and frequently offer special packages for them.

Are any of your featured holiday destinations suitable for romantic breaks?

Virtually all of them are suitable for romantic breaks: some of them might have been designed with this in mind. Posh Golf Travel reviews only the finest romantic breaks with great golf.

What is an Elite Golf Destination?

Certain golf venues are not classified as resorts but have world class courses, usually links, which knowing golfers want to play. Carnoustie is a good example, as is Ballybunion and the Cinque Ports links of England.  

What is a multi-destination golf tour?

It's a holiday spent playing two or more courses and staying at two more more hotels in the same region, such as Vermont in New England.

What is a tour operator?

A tour operator typically combines tour and travel components to create a vacation. For example, all of our preferred tour operators can arrange vacation packages for you to include: flights from anywhere in the world to your chosen vacation destination; a transfer from the airport to the relevant hotel or resort, or car hire; the services of a local representative; tee bookings at your preferred golf courses; guided tours and excursions; and anything else that you specifically require - all for one price. It is often cheaper to book your vacation using a tour operator than to book the individual elements of your vacation personally because tour operators' collective buying power gives them strong leverage with airlines, hotels, and resorts to negoatiate lower prices for their customers.

Posh Golf Travel associates only with the most prestigious tour operators.  At the tail of each of our resort and destination reviews you will find contact details for our preferred tour operator for the relevant resort or destination.

Do I have to pay Posh Golf Travel to book a holiday at one of your featured resorts?

No. We do not take bookings and we do not process any customer money.  All bookings will be either with your chosen resort or with a specialist tour operator.

Is Posh Golf Travel a travel agency or tour operator?

No, neither - we are just a review service with a lifetime of experience in golf and travel writing.

Is Posh Golf Travel ABTA bonded?

No, we don't need to be - we are not a travel agent or tour operator, and we do not sell anything to consumers. All travel packages are booked either directly with your chosen resort or destination, or via a specialist tour operator - we merely provide reviews of the leading family-friendly golf resorts and destinations in the world to help you narrow down your choice and to ensure that you stay at only the finest resorts, hotels, villas or holiday apartments.

So, how do I book a holiday at one of your featured resorts?

At the end of each review on our site, you will find  details of how to book a holiday at the relevant resort. You will also find a promotion code (unique to Posh Golf Travel) that you can use when booking directly with the resort or hotel. This will bring you discounted rates, an up-grade or free access to certain sporting  facilities such as golf.

Thanks for the free review but why wouldn't I now go book direct with the resort or hotel?

You can, and you should. However, we have a personal relationship with each of our featured resorts and hotels and have secured a discount/bonus for each one that we can pass on to you. At the end of each review you will find a promotion code: simply use that code when booking with your chosen resort or hotel (either by phone or using its website - details for both of which you will also find  in our reviews) to receive the  benefit. Voila! We save you money by arranging discounts that are not available to the general public.

How do I know your reviews are impartial?

We do not demand upfront payments from any of our featured resorts or hotels to be included on Posh Golf Travel: we receive commission for one of our feature resorts only if you book a holiday with them using one of our promotion codes. So, we have no incentive to include resorts that don't  sell themselves on merit. We want you to enjoy your holiday so much that you come back to us again to book your next holiday at one of our other featured resorts or hotels.

I have a suggestion for a golf resort that I think you should feature on your site. Will you include it?

We are always happy to receive recommendations for new luxury golf resorts to feature on Posh Golf Travel. If you think that your suggested resort is of a similar (or better) standard to most of our existing featured resorts, then please do suggest that resort to us by sending us an e-mail. We will then endeavour to make arrangements to visit and review that resort, and, if it meets our standards, will feature a review of it on our site. We will also then give you credit for suggesting it.
